I first became aware of Guildford FC 2000 in 1999 when Dwayne my eldest son was a player in Stoughton boys football club, the team he was in became the first team in FC 2000.
Dwayne went through the age groups playing as a left defender for FC 2000.
I have 3 more boys Luke, Owen and Derran. I was looking for a club to put my youngest Dez into. He was an under 5’s and was desperate to play football. Dwayne insisted I could not put them into another club and they had to join Guildford FC 2000, but the youngest age group was U10’s…
I spoke to the Chairman of the club Tony Miller and asked if they would start a younger age group, he and the committee gave the all clear and said I would have to find someone willing to be a manager..
I thought this would be easy but how wrong I was.
Dwayne said you do it mum!! I did not know anything about football; I learnt very quickly the rules of the game etc and put out 20 flyers advertising for players…
One month later I had 30 children wanting to play football, all under the age of 8 years old, by September 2005 I had 3 teams U6’s, U7’s, and U8’s.
The club started to grow and continued growing..
I received “The Best Managers award in 2005/2006” chosen by Tony Miller Guildford FC 2000 Chairperson.
I still cannot believe how much my whole life has changed, I now watch more football than any of my boys, not that they complain..
Obviously Luke & I have always supported the one and only Manchester United…
Dwayne, Owen & Dez are not impressed at this as they support Liverpool but hay someone has too!!!
I took on the role as Club Secretary in 2006…
Through 2007/2008 season, I have been manager & coach to both the Under 8’s & Under 10’s Blue Dragonz.
What a season we have just had for 2007/2008, my under 10's finished mini soccer this season winning all of their games and drawing one, winning the Champions shield.
Then the under 8's crept up the score board to take the title for division 3 again finishing Champs!!
Both teams alot of hard work but having a FANTASTIC season...
How qualified/capable is your football team's registered first aider?
Qualified and fully capable
Has done some basic training but is hardly qualified. It's just to meet regulations really.
Don't have a registered first aider - we blag it!
Don't officially need a registered first aider
Don't even know who our first aider is!
